Copy of an original manuscript staff register for Bootle Secondary School for Boys (Lancashire). It covers the years 1901-1959 and gives details of 99 teachers (75 men and 24 women) whose dates of birth range from 1857 to 1912. The information given in the register for each teacher includes, among other things, their date of birth, education and qualifications, specialist subject(s), post(s) held and dates of appointment and departure.
The school opened in 1901, so, presumably, this staff register is the first one. It appears, however, that it may not have been the only one, as a note in entry 78 refers to a new book, the whereabouts of which - if it survives - is unknown. The register is held in the Society's library (accession no. 148700)
